Hello dear Letizia, forgive me for being so out of touch. You are often in my thoughts and I am so glad to read you have moved and getting resettled again. I loved today's post about my absolute favorite vegetable, the summer peperoni, prepared, like you said, in so many wonderful ways. I wonder if Ruurd has made some progress in his recovery, I certainly hope so. Maurizio is 87 in a month and has some dementia and quite a personality change, making him a very different person than the past 50+ years together. I celebrate my 80th this summer and finished after an intense 18 months writing a memoir, "My Improbable Journey". For now I have printed copies but may self publish in the future. Sandra has ordered a copy, in fact. I have been so negligent in keeping in touch due to Maurizio's condition, my writing and the inn which is doing well. Michael seems to truly want to carry on which pleases us to keep it. It and the guests have enriched my life so very much as I know it has been for you. What is new with dear Tea? I'm off to prep dinner now since I must go down for drinks with guests soon. Un abbraccio con affetto, stima e ammirazione. Mary

my dear Mary, thank you so much for your message. I am not surprised that you are still so busy and active with all sort of activities, you are amazing as usual! Tea is doing well, she has just found a proper job and, together with her lovely boyfriend has moved to Haarlem near Amsterdam. We miss them a lot but it's wonderful that they have good opportunities and a good quality of life in The Netherlands. Un abbraccio a te sperando di risentirci presto!

Leti, your kitchen is always a place for sharing and spreading love as well as exceptional food. I'm happy you're at a place where you can "settle deep" as I call it - the relocation of the soul after all the physical moves have been done.

Warmest hugs to you and Ruurd always.

Bob and I are so very happy that you have finally settled in what I know will be a home filled with love and good food. The gentleman who hates green peppers may not be familiar with the small green shishito peppers, which can be lightly seared with olive oil and plenty of salt. An excellent and addictive appetizer! Mostly mild, but with a bit of a bite. Love to you all, Sylvia

My dear Letizia, what lovely homage you pay to the delightful red pepper! As it happens, I have two favorite recipes starring red pepper. One is a Lebanese dip/spread called Muhamarra. It is so delicious, a friend of mine simply eats it by the spoonful! A second is a recently-made recipe for fresh tomato and red pepper soup. I fell in love with it immediately for its fresh flavor and celebration of these two summer vegetables. I am wonderful if you have your own version of such a soup? If so, I'd love to try it. Thanks so much . And of course CONGRATULATIONS on your kitchen and apartment being ready to receive you - and students!!! Thinking of you as the heat settles in here. Keep cool, hydrated and inspiring us all to enjoy every bite!!! Fondly, Sarah

ciao Sarah, it's so lovely to hear from you! I am delighted you are another fan of red peppers. I have heard Muhamarra but never tasted it and also never heard of the tomato and pepper soup. Would you please share the recipes?
